Donations at Work: Restoring the Chapter Room Doors
Dear Brothers,
I’m excited to share some great news about a project that will be completed before the end of this year—one that restores the beauty, safety and the integrity of our chapter house: the restoration of the exterior chapter room doors. These are the doors off the large dinning room that exit to the side porch.
These doors have stood as the entryway to our shared space for generations of brothers. Time, weather, and use had taken their toll, but thanks to dedicated effort, they are being brought back to life. The project included carefully stripping, sanding, staining, and sealing the interior wood; replacing glass trim; piecing in new wood around the lockset; replacing hardware; filling nail holes; and upgrading weatherstripping to ensure the doors are both functional and energy efficient.
The total cost of this restoration comes to $8,550, an investment not only in wood and glass, but in preserving a piece of history every one of us has walked through as undergraduates. Completing this project ensures that future brothers will experience the chapter room with the same sense of tradition, pride, and dignity that we remember.
This project is just the beginning. We want to continue making improvements that honor our history while strengthening the chapter for the next generation. That’s where you come in.
