Will You Be One of the 85 for 85?

Dear Brother ,

A regular debate at chapter meetings while I was an undergraduate brother was how to align dues with our fraternal motto. How could we demand money as a requisite for brotherhood? When we pay dues, don't we expect something in return? Should improvements to the house be paid with dues, not just rent, since every member depends on the house even if they do not live in it?

As an alumnus, my answer has been contributing to the Ernie Schmidt Club. I don't give a lot (I'm only 26 folks), but I donate what I can in recognition of the indelible imprint Phi Kap will always have on my life. I don't expect to recapture the value of my donation through intangible benefits; I give because our alumni association takes care of my brothers.
 
Please consider the value of alumni work weekends, reunions, active coaching and supporting rush not just to yourself but to our entire chapter, from the newest initiated brother to our most senior alumnus. These programs ensure our chapter will be there for you and every brother in perpetuity. Whether you donate at the Founder's Level, the White Level or anywhere in between, you can live your Phi Kap values with a monthly commitment to support the chapter..

I will be volunteering at our July Work Weekend, and I look forward to seeing you there.
