We have a lot of thank yous to cover this month, so let’s dive right in. We formally launched our 85 for 85 Campaign on May 31. We would like to thank those brothers who have joined the Ernie Schmidt Club since then. Eric Malkin ‘89 and Gary Jarkewicz ‘75 are the two newest members of the Ernie Schmidt Club. Thank you, Eric and Gary! Our 13 brothers in the Ernie Schmidt Club are individually donating an average of $64 a month, for a collective yearly commitment of more than $10,000. Thank you, brothers! Imagine how powerful our support for both the active chapter and the physical house could be if you were one of the 85 for 85. Join us in the Ernie Schmidt Club today!
We also greatly appreciate those of our brothers who made a one-time donation since our last issue. We would like to thank Michael Calabrese ‘60, Wayne Miller ‘04, Gregory Mersol ‘82, and James Miller '71 for their generous support. We would like to thank our 85 for 85 Call Captains. These brothers have volunteered to contact every member of our alumni association about our 85 for 85 Campaign. If you get a message from Callum Curtis ‘25, Isaiah Taylor ‘23, Pritish Mishra ‘23, Russell Bigham ‘23, Ryan Paddock ‘21, Tim Kill ‘24 or Tyler Weingartner, please respond so you can hear in detail how your Ernie Schmidt membership will help the chapter. All the financial donations in the world would mean little without brothers who were willing to donate time and effort to helping the board execute. We would like to thank Aaron Mann ‘20 and Maynard Isabel ‘60, who both joined the board in October 2022 and are stepping down. Aaron served as the chair of our Coaching Committee, which assists the officers of the undergraduate chapter. Maynard was a Member-at-Large on the board and assisted wherever he saw a need. We appreciate their efforts and wish them well in all their future endeavors. Thank you, brothers. We would also like to thank three members of the Coaching Committee who have chosen to step down. We appreciate the dedication of Daniel Kessler ‘19, Hsing-Duan Louh ‘19 and Riley Davis ‘22 as they supported the undergraduate officers for the last few years. Thank you, brothers. Next, we would like to welcome our newest board members. Cassiel Yuzik ‘21 has stepped into Aaron’s shoes as the newest chair of the Coaching Committee. Neal Pence ‘01 is the newest Member-at-Large. Thank you, brothers. We would also like to thank Gary Jarkewicz ‘75 for his assistance in publishing the Paragon. You are reading this Paragon right now because Gary painstakingly took a poorly edited Microsoft Word document and turned it into a slick email that looks great on smart phones and laptops, in dark mode and light mode. Thank you, Gary! We would love to include your name in this section next time. Join the Ernie Schmidt Club, make a one-time donation, or reach out to find out how your volunteer efforts can make the board more effective.Yours in the Bonds, Nicholas DeCenzo |

Smash, Spin, Score — Just Like the Glory Days! If you know, you know. In the late '90s and early 2000s, WhirlyBall was the rush event that had everyone talking — and laughing, and colliding, and trash-talking their way to eternal bragging rights. Join the Ohio Alpha Beta Chapter Alumni Association for a night of WhirlyBall madness on Friday, July 18, at WhirlyBall Cleveland in Bedford Heights. This is your official invitation to relive the chaos, the crashes, and the epic comebacks — all while reconnecting with brothers and friends. NEVER PLAYED WHIRLYBALL? Picture this: o You’re in a bumper car.o You’ve got a scoop. o You’re racing toward a basketball-style goal while dodging, spinning, and laughing your head off. o It’s chaotic, hilarious, and ridiculously fun. Whether you were a WhirlyBall legend or have never even heard of it, this is your moment to jump in and make memories. We have reserved a court from 6:30pm to 9pm. Food will be provided at the event. There is a bar at the facility. Drinks will be out of pocket for all alumni and guests. WhirlyBall costs $20/head, payable day of event. We’d appreciate your RSVP by Sunday, July 13. Guests are welcome but please include them in your RSVP. Please reach out to Kenichi Nagano (kenichi.nagano@gmail.com) with any questions you may have. EVENT DETAILS: RSVP for WhirlyBall on Friday, July 18! GUESTS WELCOME! Bringing someone? Awesome. Just include them in your RSVP so we’ve got the numbers locked down. |
